Here are a few spots I recommend after visiting them in 2026...
Buddy Buddy - 10e Arrondissement
We just discovered this place in March 2026 and I loved it, in a neighbourhood I had never been to even when I lived in France: Canal Saint-Martin. We left the metro at Gare de l'Est and in five minutes, we were by the Quai de Valmy, admiring the iron bridges over the canal which connects the Canal de l'Ourcq in northern Paris to the river Seine.
It was just a stone's throw until we were in front of the Buddy Buddy Coffee Bar in Rue de Marseille, under pouring rain. We got in and cosied up with a Le Buddy latte for my husband and a Dream Buddy for me, two of their Signature drinks.

Le Buddy is made with a shot of Espresso coffee, Oat milk, Raw Cacao and Organic Peanut Butter. It's delicious. But my drink was even better in my opinion. The Dream Buddy is a Buddy with Ube, a flavourful purple sweet potato from Southeast Asia. This drink was specially concocted by REM Beauty by Ariana Grande. We loved the coffee itself too so we bought a pack of Brazil grains to try at home.

It was absolutely delicious and not served boiling hot, which is something that gets on my nerves in coffee shops. We had one each at the café and then got 2 more to go, as we crossed the street to get some pastries at...
Du Pain et Des Idées - 10e Arrondissement
On the same street as Buddy Buddy, we have the historic Du Pain et des Idées bakery. It is small and with no place to sit inside. But it is as cosy in size as it is grand in variety of rich pastries, some of which you might have never seen anywhere else. The place boasts of fresh baked bread as well as Pistacchio Escargot (which you might classically know as Pain aux Raisins), a Chocolatine with banana (which you might know was Pain au Chocolat), a leaner Croissant shaped like a boomerang and the cutest Flan Patissier with a heavy crust.
All looks delicious so it is difficult to make a quick choice as the line is getting longer. We left with 4 pastries, all the aforementioned and a Suisse, which my chocolate-lover husband wanted.

Angelina - 1er Arrondissement
Insiders tip: do not go in peek hours - you will not have an enjoyable experience lining up for hours for a cup of hot chocolate, no matter how delicious it is. Here is how I beat the line.

Carette - 16e Arrondissement
This used to be my absolute favouriteeeeeee breakfast spot when I lived in Paris in the 2000s! Carette will always remind me of the months I used to work for Vogue Italia during Paris Fashion Week. I loved its genuine Parisian Café vibe and its location by the Trocadéro, amazing to go before a Fashion Week event or after taking some photos with friends by the Eiffel Tower.
I have heard it has become even more famous than ever before in the past few years and it's a bit crowded but they genuinely used to have my favourite croissants in Paris when I lived there. I hope the massive lines do not prevent you from having a great experience.

Café de Flore - 6e Arrondissement
Go there for the location, history and vibes not for the service. As soon as you leave that expectation on the side, you will be in for a treat. This will always be the Café where I saw and asked Lauren Bacall for an autograph. The Café Crème is to die for - especially if, like me, you don't enjoy Portuguese coffee, which is all there is in Angola as well.

Ladurée - Several spots in town and Orly Airport
I know this has become an international brand and you might not feel like it's the most genuine experience when in Paris but I mean... should we beat brands for doing well and going international? Because when you remove prejudice, going to a Ladurée provides for a quintessential Parisian experience: the stunning decor, the antique-inspired furniture, the comfortable sofas and knooks ready for a gossipy chat with your closest girlfriend... I am a fan! And you do have several locations around town and at the airport for a last Macaron haul before catching your flight! My favourite will always be their Flan Patissier, the french custard tart. It might remind the Portuguese of their Pastel de Nata, yet this one is better. And bigger.
