I am Jess and I have been a blogger since 2005. Omg, I feel so old writing this! I was one of Portugal TOP 100 bloggers of 2008 whilst living my best life in Paris and decided to start writing exclusively in English in 2024.
In 2026 I will be celebrating 20 years in the corporate world since I grabbed my first job in one of France's top banks. Years later, I am always in a meeting (either at the office or online), always in a blazer, always taking a decision to move my teams forward.
Having to deal with such a fast moving setting day and night, I needed to have a creative space where my softer side can come to light and balance my hard power on weekdays. I am a Libra, can you tell?
My dear husband Bruno is a prominent figure in my articles and takes most of the photographs I share here. We met in 2015 and have been together ever since. We got married on their 7th anniversary in the most beautiful Palace in Lisbon in what became the best day of our lives.
I have been to over 30 countries and lived in 7 of them. My husband and I spend our time between Angola (where my parents are from) & Portugal and where we have a beautiful home in the Algarve (where he is from).
We first visited Scotland in 2018 and it became our home at heart. We have been back several times and we got engaged in a fairytale setting in Edinburgh in late 2021.
We are always in an airplane and call several parts of the world home: we love South Africa and visit yearly. I lived in France for over a decade and going to Paris in mandatory in our downtime. Going to Tanzania for our honeymoon in June 2022 was one of the most magical moments of our lives.
The Signature Jess is about everything I love as soon as I turn the corporate computer off:
- travelling: check all my travel tales here. I recently wrote about our Honeymoon in Tanzania and an amazing Road Trip in Namibia!
- food: my husband cooks a lot at home (I do too... sometimes!) but we love restaurants and cocktails too
- hosting: I love setting a beautiful table for my friends and family and loving feeling inspired as well. I am a Pinterest girl through and through!
- books: I have read over a 100 books in the past 5 years and I am to read a 1000 more. I am also part of the most beautiful book club in the world
- beauty: I am a beauty and skincare addict and have over 300 products in my home apothecary. Even if I splurge a lot in drugstores around the world, I also focused on a permanent project pan and document every month about products I finished (empties in the beauty lingo!) and what is worth buying or not
- health & wellness: I have lost 18 kgs (40 lbs) in 2024 and have not gained the weight ever since. I documented the whole journey since Day 1 and everything I do to keep healthy through food, fitness, supplements and other rituals. I also love how supported I feel in my journey thanks to this smart device.
- gardening: I have a huge garden at home and love our plants. I have a soft spot for orchids, I cannot lie
- on my ears: I love audiobooks and podcasts. I especially like Substack’s audio feature that is so useful when I am tired of reading and just want to close my eyes and listen to someone’s content. I listen to podcasts or audiobooks in the morning whilst getting ready to go to work and it’s an integral part of my routine
- on my screen: even if we do not own a TV at home, we have a home projector and are always in the know in regards to the best TV shows. Some I watch on my own, others I watch with my husband. Other than that, I also love Tiktok and following women accounts over there
- building wealth: being money-smart has allowed me to achieve everything I have in my life as I never got (and never will get) an inheritance or a freebie. I knew from very young that if I wanted wealth and abundance in my life, I would have to build it myself. And so I did. I share with you how (paying members only).
