South Africa | The most scenic of Birthday Lunches at Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic (with video)

Winter 2023 was the time I got to introduce my husband to South Africa for the first time and it was quite a special moment of our lives. As an habituée myself, it was so refreshing seeing someone fall in love before my eyes. And this feeling peaked when we drove past the Chapmans Peak to celebrate his birthday at Tintswalo Atlantic's stunning restaurant.

With such a gorgeous scenery before our eyes we wanted nothing else but to enjoy the views and the gorgeous local seafood in a festival of small plates made to share. We started with the crispiest cocktails - my husband and I love cocktails to kick off a meal or at aperitivo! - and the shiniest South African brioche and homemade churned butter.

We were about to commence the feast of our lives. We had: the yellowtail ceviche with cashew mint chutney | the seared swordfish with coriander and turmeric oil | the beef carpaccio with aubergine lavash and roasted red pepper | the medley of of heartwarming Jerusalem artichoke velouté with truffle cardamom oil | the seared linefish with pommes Anna and tarragon velouté | the roasted duck with cashew nut purée | the paella style saffron risotto with local clams | the crayfish escabeche with puff rice crisps

We had no more space for dessert and for a good reason. Not only was the food out of this world as the restaurant wasn't full so we felt we were having the experience and the whole ocean just for ourselves. It was one of the most memorable meals of our lives.
Make sure to check our experience at the sister restaurant in Franschhoek, the Chefs Warehouse Maison. It was also one to remember!
