My Secret to a Restful Night of Sleep, Every Weeknight
Let’s face it: corporate days can leave us overstimulated, overtired, and yet somehow wide awake at bedtime. Over the years, I’ve tried everything from herbal teas to blackout curtains, leaving the cellphone out of the bedroom and grab a book or listen to a soothing audiobook... sometimes it works, but life isn't a bed of roses and sometimes nothing works. Until a new ritual, tested through months, started making a real difference.
Today I’m sharing my weekday sleep secret, a supplement-based routine that’s gentle, reliable, and (dare I say) kind of delicious.
I’m a big fan of the ZENement brand and have mentioned it every other month in my beauty and wellness empties. And here is how two of their products came through for me:

Step 1: Assessing for Stressful Days
When I know my brain won’t switch off: tight deadlines, back-to-back meetings, or just an overstimulating day, I start with ZENement’s L-Tryptophan & Melatonin Complex.
This one’s a capsule I take with water around 9:30PM, before the gummy. It’s formulated with:
- Melatonin - 0.9 mg
- L-Tryptophan – a serotonin precursor that supports mood
- Magnesium
- Melatonin
- Vitamins B3, B5, and B6
With 180 capsules, the bottle is meant to last over six months. And I hope it does as I don't have a stash at the waiting for this one.
Step 2: My Go-To Night Treat – ZENement Melatonin Gummies
because supplement-taking is an integral part of my wellness routine. These melatonin gummies are sweet without being sugary, gentle but effective, and taste like a tiny reward at the end of a long day.
Each gummy contains:
- Melatonin to help regulate your natural sleep cycle - 1 mg
- Chamomile, Valerian, and Lemon Balm for calm
- Vitamin B6 to support the nervous system
I take one gummy at 10PM, about 30 minutes after the L-Tryptophan, with the goal of being asleep before 11PM. The bottle lasts me around 3 months since it contains 90 gummies. They’ve become such a core part of my routine that I now associate their soft citrusy flavor with switching off for the night.
This combo is my fail-safe ritual for falling and staying asleep on even the most stressful nights.
So fail-safe I have a stash: as a melatonin gummies bottle just finished last month, I also bought Aavalabs' melatonin gummies. Straight from Finland, Aavalabs is one of my favourite supplement brands and I trust their ethos and formulas. The formulation on these gummies is simpler yet I am eager to confirm if the results will be the same as ZENement's.

A Note on Daily Melatonin Use
While melatonin is considered a safe and non-habit-forming supplement when used responsibly, it’s still important to be intentional.
Most sleep experts recommend short-term or occasional use to support circadian rhythm regulation, especially during periods of stress, travel, or disrupted sleep patterns. Dosages can vary, but for most adults, 0.5 mg to 3 mg is enough to support sleep onset.
I personally avoid melatonin on weekends to give my body time to self-regulate naturally. This helps prevent dependency and keeps the routine effective when I truly need it.
As always: this is my personal routine, not medical advice. If you have ongoing sleep issues, it’s a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement.
What’s Your Nighttime Routine?
Do you take supplements to help you sleep? Or do you swear by something totally different—like evening journaling or essential oils?
I’d love to know. Leave a comment below and share what works for you.
If you're curious about the rest of my supplement routine (for skin, mood, immunity, and more), I wrote about it more in depth last year.
