Cocktails | Manhattan or Old Fashioned?
What about the best of both recipes ?
I love Whisky! Ever since visiting Scotland for the first time in 2018 and the several trips back we've made as well as the now respectable collection I own at home, I always like venturing into distilleries and trying new Whisky flavours and tastes.

Aside from whisky, sipping cocktails around the world has allowed me to improve and perfect recipes to recreate them at home. I feel that my homemade cocktails are getting better and better. Lately I have been redoing classic cocktails such as the Manhattan with an Old Fashioned twist.
What's the difference between a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned?
A classic Manhattan is made of Rye Whiskey, Vermouth, Bitters and a candied cherry served in a cocktail glass with no ice.
A classic Old Fashioned is made of Rye Whiskey or Bourbon, a sugar cube, bitters and an orange peel, served in a Tumbler with a large ice cube.
The main difference is what brings the sweetness to both cocktails, in one case the Vermouth and in the latter, the sugar cube. No need to use both in the same recipe!
Recipe time!
For this mash-up recipe, here are the ingredients:
🥃 2 parts Whiskey (we are using Jack Daniel’s Tennessee)
🥃 1 part Vermouth (we are using Cinzano)
🥃 2 dashes of Bitters (we are using Angostura)
🥃 An orange peel (grown in our garden)
🥃 A candied cherry
🥃 Large ice cube (and smaller ones for the shaker)
