Paris | Breakfast at Angelina's

Paris | Breakfast at Angelina's
Angelina Paris at Rue Rivoli - January 2025

I know, I know, Parisian readers are rolling their eyes and thinking there is nothing genuine about going to Angelina Paris. The lines are long, the food isn't even that french anymore - it could indeed be a tea room in Vienna, Austria - and there are more less beaten spaces in Paris worth a trip and our hard earned money. I know all that. But still, on our last day in Paris during our Winter break in the city of lights, this is where we went for our farewell breakfast.

To beat the lines that are unbearable during the day, we arrived as the business opened by 7:30 AM. Plenty of time to walk from our hotel close to the Opera and back, before catching our flight in the early afternoon at the Orly Airport.

As all sitting was available, we sat and enjoyed watching the other early birds, a mix of fellow tourists and Parisians who had time to spare in that cold morning. The staff was also upbeat, in the middle of getting ready for the day but without the stress of a full house yet. It was a pleasant and mostly silent vibe, as if we were invited to check the backstage of a busy café before it went crazy.

With a small appetite, we ordered the Angelina Breakfast to share, with two warm beverages, eggs "prepared as you wish" (and we chose the omelette), the pear compote with yoghurt, baguette with butter, jam and honey, fresh juice and a basket of warm viennoiseries.

It was my first time having breakfast at Angelina's, as I usually go for lunch or for tea time, for their delicious white hot chocolate. Still, an experience to repeat!

Have you already been to Angelina? And is it one of your favourite old school cafés in Paris or do you like somewhere else? Please share, I'd love to read about it and head there on my next Parisian stay.
