An aperitivo in the Algarve: best cocktail hour in Carvoeiro beach
I love cocktails and thankfully, my husband is very good at doing them. But I do not like always having a glass of alcohol in my hand. Some people drink a glass of wine or a beer every day (and it's okay! not judging!) but I drink only one or two per month, at most.
Inspired by a trip to Lake Como, Italy we did a few years ago, my husband and I love having an aperitivo, especially on friday evenings, to celebrate the week just past and the weekend ahead.
Aperitivo is not a full meal, but more of a celebratory pause with a tipple and a snack. You can make it as fancy as you'd like. So it was quite interesting trying an alcohol-free gin cocktail (with fresh passionfruit!) by the beach at the Tivoli Carvoeiro a few weeks ago at aperitivo time, when we were in the Algarve.

An aperitivo would not be complete with a few nuts, crips, olives, cheeses, dried fruits... and that gorgeous Spring weather. I wanted for nothing at that moment, feeling so blessed to feeling the joy of small things after a difficult month.
It was not only a beautiful day with the most gorgeous scenery but it was refreshing to enjoy the moment without alcohol. That is why I bought an alcohol-free gin to try at home and... I am in love! I have been doing lots of cocktails and I don't think I will go back to "normal" gin.
I also shared the nectar with my book club mates at our latest bookclub a few weeks ago and it was thoroughly enjoyed!
