It is a great gourmet supermarket with very curated selections of products. If you want something special, you will find it there. By now, you might know how much I love upscale supermarkets as I constantly rave about [**this amazing one in the Algarve where I am a frequent costumer**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/algarve-portugal-erewhon-wholefoods-grocery-haul/) and [**this one in Helsinki**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/helsinki-in-a-nutshell/) still often grazes my mind. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/58/67/5867d415-55cd-4f42-962a-67b9b6110b2c/content/images/2025/10/la-grande-epicerie-paris-octobre-2025.jpg) **La Grande Épicerie - October 2025* When in Paris, I like to fill my suitcase with ***food souvenirs*** I can take back home either in the Algarve or back to Angola. At **La Grande Épicerie**, it is possible to seal your fresh goods before travelling, such as butter, which people rave about. You have yet to find butter in my suitcase but if I ever take the leap, I will let you know! As I have the loyalty card from **Le Bon Marché** \- *La Carte 24 Sèvres* \- you can also use it here at **La Grande Épicerie** and accumulate points or redeem the money you accumulate during your **Journée Privilège**. [****My experience at La Grande Epicerie de Paris**](https://youtube.com/shorts/Jwj6RwSVMdQ?feature=share&ref=thesignaturejess.com) *In alphabetical order:* ## Biscuits (or Cookies) We love the amazing array of biscuits at **La Grande Épicerie** such as the La **Bonne Maman** ones - I love *Les Madeleines*! - and being a mix of biscuits with chocolate, I am the hugest fan of *Les Crêpes Dentelle* from **Maxim's**. ## Champagne & Wines Of course the ideal is to go to the wineries and buy your wine cases directly from the producers but if you are on a Paris trip and not reaching for the outskirts, you will be limited to do so. **La Grande Épicerie** has the greatest selection of french wines and champagne to take back home. I must confess these don't travel as well as other products as they can get smashed in a packed suitcase but if you can try them during the trip for a goûter, go for it! I love the *Caramelised Onion and Balsamic Vinegar* one from **Brets**. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/58/67/5867d415-55cd-4f42-962a-67b9b6110b2c/content/images/2025/10/la-grande-epicerie-chips-crisps.jpg) **Brets gourmet crisps at La Grande Épicerie* ## French Bakery I have never been at La Grande Épicerie without picking a pack of Cannelés, the moist and cheewy and sweet baked good from the region of Bordeaux. I do not have a sweet tooth, but I love it. ## Mushrooms I am a huge mushroom lover and unfortunately, mushrooms are a rare find back at home. We found a solution for this with dried mushrooms which we can find at **La Grande Épicerie** and mix in with pasta or risottos. When one manages to tackle the rehydration part - we like to soak it in broth -, it's a great and flavourful add on to one's dishes! ## Risotto Mixes We do have risotto back at home but it's the mixes that makes us travel. La Grande Épicerie has great ones we do at home, adding just broth, wine and freshly grated cheese and it's a full meal. ## Spices & Sauces We love cooking at home and one of our go-to spice mix is the *Persaillotte* from **Albert Ménès**, a stunning mix of dried Parsley, Garlic, Shallot and Salt. We love seasoning our chicken about to roast or grill, it makes all the difference. We really really recommend this one. ## Syrups I love my syrup pumps on my coffee in the morning and **La Grande Épicerie** has a great selection from the classic flavours to special editions and sugar free ones. My favourites are sugar free Vanilla and Caramel (in the big bottles), but it's the place to try new ones such as the Hazelnut or Coconut (in smaller bottles). We visited La Grande Épicerie de Paris a few days before Easter 2026\. The store was gorgeously decorated for the celebrations, with the usual Easter eggs and rabbits but also an amazing spread done with **La Maison du Chocolat**, a chocolatier house that is turning 50 in 2027\. Never forget to go to their cave in -1 floor to grab a bottle of champagne to celebrate just being in Paris.
