Yet I have nothing against the platform. Netflix has provided me with great content, both fiction and non-fiction, for over a decade. I mean, you know I binge-watch [**Love is Blind**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/tag/superficial-intelligence/) as soon as it is out! And after watching another memorable show on the platform, I thought it was time to share **my favourite Netflix miniseries in 2026**. [What's the latest miniseries you've watched on Netflix?](#ghost-comments-root) ## I Will Find You (2026) It's 2026 and if you have scrolled through Netflix options for a miniseries, you might have stumbled upon one based on **Harlan Coben**'s books. In 2018, following the success of the miniseries ***Safe*** with **Michael C. Hall**, the American author went on to sign a 5-year deal with Netflix, to adapt 14 of his books. Most of them are set in the United Kingdom, such as ***The Stranger***, ***Stay Close*** and ***Fool Me Once***. ***I Will Find You*** is the latest American instalment of that deal. In the pilot, we meet *David Burroughs* (played by **Sam Worthington**, the *Jake Sully* from **Avatar**!), a man in prison after being found guilty of the death of his son. Sentenced for life, he believes he was framed yet is resigned to his destiny until his former sister-in-law *Rachel*, a journalist (played by **Britt Lower**), identifies her nephew, older, on a random photo sent by a friend at an amusement park. As she shares the picture with David, it ignites his will to look for justice and freedom. The first episode is filled with action and questions. With over 24 million views on its launch week, it is worth a watch. 📺 ***I Will Find You** has a great ensemble cast, which you can only tell from episode 2 on. Some of the actors might remind you of great TV shows from the past. Rachel was Alex's mother, who was just shy of turning 3 years old at the moment of the murder. The most ghastly fact is that he was present during her murder: they were playing in the park when she was approached by a man and then was stabbed and sexually assaulted. Alex was by her side the whole time and the only witness to the crime. The 3-episode miniseries shows a lot of restraint in regards to the crime scenes - which I was thankful for, as graphic scenes stay engraved permanently in my thoughts - yet it is highly critical of the police's investigation and tactics. A poignant story, where both Alex and his father André were brought on as consultants. 📺 ***The Witness** was launched with a companion documentary about the killing of Rachel Nickell, it is worth a watch. The show deals with the aftermath of the bombing of the Pan Am Flight 103 that was doing the London-New York route a few days before Christmas 1988\. Less than an hour after take off, the Boeing 747 (called Clipper Maid of the Seas) explodes over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 243 passengers, 16 crew members as well as 11 residents. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/58/67/5867d415-55cd-4f42-962a-67b9b6110b2c/content/images/2026/08/pan-am-bombing-netflix.jpg) **Connor Swindells as DS Ed McCusker in The Bombing of Pan Am 103* We follow the consequences of the investigation from the Scottish and American side, as well as the lives of the people of Lockerbie and the families of the deceased. This show has been tough to watch: it beautifully addresses the lingering pain of a loss, of not knowing what happens, the highs and lows of an investigation and the personal toll it takes out of those involved. 📺 If the show makes you fall in love with Scotland and its people, it's natural: it's really that beautiful and people are really that warm. Elma Pringle, Josephine Donaldson, and Moira Shearer were among the many volunteers in Lockerbie who assisted in recovery efforts. The “**laundry ladies*” as they became known, began to clean and carefully fold and package the recovered clothing of the victims so that the items could be returned to loved ones. I am glad the show remembers and honours them beautifully. ## The Residence (2025) If you love the game **Cluedo** (aka **Clue**) or **Mafia**, thriller books by **Lucy Foley**, the upstairs/downstairs vibes from ***Downton Abbey*** and movies like ***Knives Out***, Netflix's ***The Residence*** might be the show for you. With 8 episodes, the **Shondaland** miniseries tackles a murder that happens at the White House during a state dinner for the Australian Prime Minister. The star of the show is Uzo Aduba, known for the character *Crazy Eyes* on ***Orange is the New Black*** \- the show that got us used to having all episodes from a single season drop at once! - or in the sequel of my favourite show ***In Treatment***. She plays the main detective that is sharp, quirky and obsessed with birding, making her seem a bit detached from reality yet extremely focused on minute details. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/58/67/5867d415-55cd-4f42-962a-67b9b6110b2c/content/images/2025/06/residence-uzo-aduba.png) **The Residence - Netflix 2025* What is also interesting about this show is that it shows us a White House we might not be used to on the news cycle or on movies and tv shows. It's not about politics at the West Wing or in the Oval Office but about the power dynamics between who lives in the building and who works there, from administration to administration. The show made me want to make a White House tour of all those colour rooms and levels, especially underground. 📺 Being a show at the White House produced by Shondaland, I could not help but think about ***Scandal** and the amazing chemistry between **Olivia Pope* and **Mr President Fitzgerald*. If you miss the dynamic duo that came to light with ****Kerry Washington** and ****Tony Goldwyn**, they just interviewed each other for the latest Actor on Actor series. Q (2025) [**I love Nordic Noir series**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/nordic-tv-shows-to-watch/) like ***The Investigation*** or ***The Chestnut Man***. Little did I know two things when I first stumbled into the poster for the ***Dept. Q*** show whilst scrolling on Tiktok: - firstly, that that scruffy unattractive lead character was played by the (usually gorgeous) **Matthew Goode** - secondly, that this show based in Edinburgh, [**Scotland**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/tag/scotland/) was inspired by a Danish crime series written by Jussi Adler-Olsen The aforementioned **Matthew Goode** plays the part of detective *Carl Morck*, who just suffered a terrible personal loss in the middle of a work accident. The intro is just shocking. After some time away from the force he is back, but not to investigate what happened to him and his workmates but into a makeshift basement department, investigating cold cases. He is not that interested until he is partnered with *Akram* (played by Swedish actor **Alexej Manvelov**), a mysterious Syrian IT Manager who wants nothing to do with IT but has a knack for investigations and *Rose*, a young detective who needs a boost of confidence to pull through her personal life. This show is only 9 episodes long. It is intense and filled with complexities, set in a very dark, grey and morose ambiance, yet we are also filled with hope. As we follow the investigation(s) and Carl's road to recovery and adjusting to his personal life, we also fall in love with complex and funny characters. And of course, we want to know what happened in both investigations, so it's quite a gripping show to watch. 📺 Fun fact: when the characters are in Edinburgh, the outdoors scenes were mostly shot around the Saint Giles cathedral and the Supreme Courts around Parliament Square which is exactly [****where we got engaged in December 2021**](https://www.thesignaturejess.com/our-love-story-our-engagement/)! As much as the tv show was thrilling, seeing those locations in each episode took my husband and me right back memory lane, to one of the happiest moments in our lives. It had everything I love in a thriller: a mysterious man, an unstable marriage, a fragile-but-intriguing friendship, and a main character who’s just a bit too curious for her own good. It’s the kind of story that pulls you in slowly, then gets under your skin in all the right (and wrong) ways. The series follows Louise(played by **Simona Brown**), a single mother who gets involved with her psychiatrist boss, David (played by **Tom Bateman**). Complication #1: David is married. Complication #2: his wife Adele (played by **Eve Hewson**) might be the most captivating and confusing person Louise has ever met. Somehow, Louise finds herself drawn to both of them - romantically to one, emotionally to the other - and caught in a dangerous triangle she doesn’t fully understand. It’s beautifully shot, deliberately paced, and so thick with unease that I often found myself pausing just to *breathe*. For five episodes, I was fully on board, even taking notes, guessing theories, and texting people “You *have* to watch this.” And then came the final episode. I won’t spoil it here, but let’s just say it *divides opinions*. 📺 Fun Fact: ****Eve Hewson** is Bono from U2’s daughter. Her performance as Adele was widely praised.
